Beer Calculator — Cans & Bottles for a Party

Calculate the number of individual beers first, then convert that total into the pack size you can actually buy.

Formula

Individual beers = beer drinkers × hours × beers per hour × contingency. The result is then rounded to whole cans/bottles and whole packs.

Worked example

Twenty beer drinkers over four hours at 0.8 beers/hour gives 64 units. With 10% extra the estimate becomes 71 cans/bottles after rounding, which means six 12-packs.

Do not confuse container size with drinking rate

A 330ml bottle, 440ml can and pint are different volumes. This calculator estimates individual containers, so use a consumption assumption that makes sense for the format you are buying.
