How Much Beer Do I Need for a Party?
Work out individual cans or bottles first, then round into cases or multipacks. That keeps the maths separate from the packaging sold by the shop.
Count beer drinkers, not everybody
If only part of the adult group will choose beer, use that number rather than applying a beer allowance to every guest.
Choose an explicit rate
Consumption varies with party length, food, time of day, transport arrangements and individual preferences. Use an editable per-hour estimate rather than treating a “two first hour, one thereafter” rule as universal.
Container size matters
If you change from small bottles to larger cans or pints, reconsider the per-hour assumption because the amount in each unit has changed.
Example
Twenty beer drinkers × four hours × 0.8 units/hour = 64. Add 10% and round up to 71 individual beers; six 12-packs provide 72.
