Party Decoration Checklist
Good decoration planning is partly design and partly logistics. Decide where the visual impact matters, then check how everything will actually be installed and removed.
Before buying
- Choose the few areas worth decorating.
- Measure walls, tables, backdrops and garland routes.
- Check what the venue already supplies.
- Confirm permitted fixing methods and setup/removal times.
- Set the decoration spending limit.
Balloons and hanging décor
Choose air or helium based on the design, calculate quantities from the actual dimensions, add explicit spares and check secure fixing. Avoid balloon releases; dispose of broken balloons and ribbon responsibly.
Tables
Count guest tables and functional food/cake/gift tables separately. Make sure centrepieces do not obstruct conversation, food service or practical use of the table.
Installation
Allow time for inflation, assembly, fixing and last-minute repairs. Keep walkways, exits and venue safety equipment clear and follow venue rules.
Cleanup
Plan removal before the party begins: bags/boxes for reusable items, balloon fragments, tape/fixings and rubbish. Leave enough time inside the venue booking.
