Birthday Cake Servings Calculator

Cake size charts vary because height, shape, cutting pattern and slice size vary. Start with the number of servings you need, then use the serving yield for the cake you will actually buy or bake.

Why we do not pretend an 8-inch cake always serves X

Published cake calculators show materially different serving yields depending on cake height, layers, slice dimensions and whether cuts are party-style or smaller event portions. A baker's cutting guide for the exact product is stronger evidence than diameter alone.

Count cake eaters, not invitations

If some guests will leave before cake or do not want it, you can use the expected cake-eating headcount. If cake is the only dessert, a reserve may be more useful than when several desserts are available.

How to read this estimate

The calculator separates your inputs from editable planning assumptions. Treat the result as a starting quantity, then adjust it for the real guest mix, product size, venue or serving style. See how our calculators work.
